Design Associate for Opera, Isolde | 2018

Oxford University Faculty of Music presented Isolde on 11 April 2018 at the Grade I listed Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford.

A bold re-imagining of Wagner’s opera Tristan und Isolde, this new production was based on the composer Gustav Mahler and designer Alfred Roller’s visionary staging of the classic at the Vienna Court Opera in 1903. The inner emotional landscape of Irish princess Isolde is conveyed through a dramatic site-specific staging that incorporates the architecture of the theatre with sculptural set pieces.

This one-night-only performance was part of the Wagner 1900 International Conference.

Conductor | JOHN WARNER
