Interstellar Medium – an architecture of fashion

If you do not honour your past, there is no future. If you destroy your roots, you cannot grow. Friedensreich Hundertwasser

This project explores the human body as a site for an architectural intervention. Interstellar Medium is a hand-crafted garment created in layers and inspired by memories. The fabric of the main piece is layered from building photographs and traced in black Indian ink on tissue paper. The aluminium frame creates a protection and the ‘roots’ that extend from the back hold particular memories of experiences in the built environment. The garment was photographed in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
